Dad says: Emily performed with the Central Valley High School marching band yesterday at the Sounds of Thunder marching band competition in Spokane. They brought home the Grand Sweepstakes award and swept the caption awards for their division.
The competition was fun but it was freezing! We were given hot bag thingies to keep our hands warm. They worked pretty well until we went to the awards ceremony. We had our gloves on every second before this so our hands had stayed pretty warm but we weren’t allowed to wear them during the ceremony so our hands were numb. At the last performance I could not feel my fingers or move them so I ended up playing most of the song with two fingers! Besides this little detail I had lots of fun, not to mention we kicked the other people’s butts! In the video I’m the one standing behind the black box thing, enjoy!
There was a YouTube video here from the competition, but it is gone. See this post for the other video from the competition.
This video was taken last weekend at the Cavalcade of Bands in Pasco, Washington. Emily is at the synthesizer, behind the black box to the left of the timpani.

Emily, congratulations and that is so awesome! I remember those days and it is a lot of work. I hope you had a fabulous time and it is so exciting you got Grand Sweepstakes. Thanks for sharing that with us.
